Information for Audience Members with Disabilities

Teatro alla Scala offers discounted rates and dedicated services to ensure that everyone can attend performances in comfort and safety.

To ensure proper organization of reception services, accessible ticket bookings are handled exclusively through the Accessibility Service – Box Office. Please read the information below carefully before submitting your request.

Bookings and requests for concessions must be made exclusively through the Accessibility Service, with adequate advance notice prior to the performance date.

Who is eligible for dedicated rates

Discounted rates are reserved for audience members:

  • using a wheelchair;
  • with certified disability, documented via the European Disability Card
    (or an equivalent official document issued in the country of origin, EU or non-EU).

Audience members who require an accompanying person must provide certification attesting to this need, in accordance with the categories mentioned in the Article 4.4 of the Decree of the President of the Italian Council of Ministers of 6 November 2020.


Discounted rates

  • 25% discount on the ticket price for the audience member with a disability (except wheelchairs seating).
  • Wheelchair seating: special fixed rate, equivalent to Gallery Zone 1 for the 2025/2026 Season and to Gallery Zone 3 (blue) for the 2026/2027 Season
  • Free ticket for an accompanying person in cases of 100% disability with certified accompaniment.
  • The required documentation must be submitted at the same time as the booking request.

How to book

  1. Contact the dedicated booking service (+39 02 8879 6112; [email protected]) starting from the first day ticket sales open, according to the calendar published on the website
  2. Submit the request at least 72 hours in advance of the performance date
  3. Specify the type of need
    (wheelchair, reduced mobility, need for an accompanying person, etc.).
  4. Send the required documentation to [email protected]
  5. Wait for confirmation of seat availability, subject to availability

Accessible seating and venue features

Availability and types of seating vary depending on the venue configuration and the type of disability.

Audience members using a wheelchair

  • Reserved seats: 4 in the stalls
  • Accompanying person: 1 adjacent free seat, if certified
  • Access via dedicated ramps to the stalls
  • Dedicated rate, equivalent to the first gallery sector
  • Accessible restrooms: ground floor, stalls foyer
  • Limitations: due to structural constraints, access to boxes and galleries is not possible

Audience members with reduced mobility (without wheelchair)

  • Reserved seats: up to 4 easily accessible seats in the stalls, including accompanying persons
  • Accompanying person: 1 adjacent free seat, if certified
  • Access via dedicated ramps to the stalls
  • 25% discount on the ticket
  • Accessible restrooms: ground floor, stalls foyer
  • In the event of high demand, availability will be checked at the time of booking

Audience members with non-motor disabilities

  • It is possible to request any seating category, with the exception of numbered gallery entrances without visibility
  • Seat availability is checked by the Accessibility Service based on the performance and venue configuration.

Hearing impairment

For almost all performances, box seats in the gallery are also available, reserved for members of the Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted – Milan Section.

Access with service dogs

  • In cases of certified medical need, it is possible to request access accompanied by one’s service dog
  • Seating is limited and not available in all areas of the venue
  • The request must be sent by email, attaching certification: [email protected]

The Theatre reserves the right, in exceptional cases, to modify the number of available seats for artistic reasons.
