In brief
Two parallel creative worlds, brimming with inspiration and imagination, converge on the stage of La Scala, which once again welcomes David Dawson and, for the first time, Marcos Morau. Two works never before presented in Italy, each with a distinctive and original style, both arising from a reinterpretation of classical traditions. Drawing on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, reimagined by Max Richter, Dawson creates a choral work exploring the cycle of life, with ever-changing forms, colours and lights, set within spaces dedicated to each of the four elements, all rendered through his consistently and deeply human aesthetic approach. From the codes and architectures of classical ballet — only to deconstruct them according to his own poetics — Marcos Morau creates Étude, a very recent and disorienting work for the Paris Opera Ballet, exploring the relationship between darkness and light, that very light which allows one to imagine and create despite doubts and shadows. In his worlds and landscapes, movement and image meet and merge through a powerful bodily language that dissects movement, transforming it into a unique identity.
