We are very grateful to Mrs Angel Blue for performing the role of Violetta.
NOTES ON THE PERFORMANCE
The sumptuous production directed by Liliana Cavani, with scenes by Oscar winner Dante Ferretti and costumes by Gabriella Pescucci, that brought back La traviata to La Scala in 1990 under the baton of Riccardo Muti, will be staged from January to March with two stellar casts. After conducting Simon Boccanegra e Don Carlo at La Scala, Myung-Whun Chung continues his journey through the oeuvre of Verdi with Marina Rebeka, one of today’s most acclaimed interpreters of the role, as Violetta, and Leo Nucci as Giorgio Germont, whereas Francesco Meli, who has already been applauded alongside Anna Netrebko in 2017, and emerging talent Benjamin Bernheim will alternate as Alfredo. For three performances in March, Marco Armiliato will take the podium with another dazzling cast featuring Angel Blue as Violetta and, again, Francesco Meli as Alfredo, while Plácido Domingo returns to the stage of La Scala as Giorgio Germont.
