The “Amici del Loggione” was founded forty years ago.

Paolo Grassi, then General Manager of the Teatro alla Scala, greeted the new association with these words: "The 'Amici del Loggione del Teatro alla Scala', an association that is young and full of significance, has been founded. These opera-goers will judge our work in the independence of their reactions, in the passion of their behaviour, in the freedom of their love, in the tenacity of their presence... ".

With this free and passionate spirit, over the years the "Amici del Loggione" has organized meetings with artists, conferences, debates, presentations of books and recordings, as well as round tables, congresses, classes of music history and exhibitions.

The purpose of these activities is to expand and spread the artistic heritage of La Scala, as a symbol of Italian excellence worldwide.

Thank to the Documentation Centre, every member has the opportunity to consult audio-video archives, scores, essays, magazines and photographs.

Moreover, through the Iniziativa Giovani, the "Amici del Loggione" offer young musicians the opportunity to perform in live concerts and shows.
