An overwhelming story of passion, violence, and betrayal, Fedora has been performed at La Scala by an illustrious slate of conductors and singers: De Sabata with Maria Caniglia, Gianandrea Gavazzeni initially with Maria Callas and Franco Corelli and later with Mirella Freni in the title role and Plácido Domingo and José Carreras. The new production is conducted by Marco Armiliato and features the voice and stage charisma of Sonya Yoncheva and Roberto Alagna. It is directed by Mario Martone, ideal interpreter of the almost cinematographic structure of the libretto, with stage design by Margherita Palli.
