Opera was born in Italy yet italian masterpieces from its first century are rarely performed. Teatro alla Scala brings this period back to life by adding Francesco Cavalli's La Calisto to its repertoire, a masterwork of music and theatre that combines characters from myth and popular culture in captivating interweaves under the talented direction of David McVicar and the musical acumen of one of the leading experts in this repertoire, Chirstophe Rousset, complemented by a talented cast.
