NOTES ON THE PERFORMANCE
La Scala returns to Wagner by reviving the visionary 2010 staging of Tannhäuser by
Carlus Padrissa of La Fura dels Baus, dominated by a giant mechanical hand and illuminated by spectacular projections. The singing company has few rivals today: the
protagonist Peter Seiffert will be joined on stage by Krassimira Stoyanova, recently highly acclaimed as Ariadne, Albert Dohmen and the great Christian Gerhaher as Wolfram, while in some performances we will hear Dorothea Röschmann and Markus Werba. This title sees Ádám Fischer continue a Wagnerian spring that started in March with him conducting the entire tetralogy at the Vienna State Opera.
