NOTES ON THE PERFORMANCE
The delicate and imaginative décor by Tullio Pericoli and the skillful direction of Grischa Asagaroff bring Donizetti’s masterpiece to the Scala with an ideal cast, in which Rosa Feola as Adina is flanked by René Barbera and Vittorio Grigolo in the role of Nemorino, Massimo Cavalletti as Belcore and Ambrogio Maestri as Dulcamara. On the podium, the young Milanese conductor Michele Gamba, a former assistant to Antonio Pappano and Daniel Barenboim who has already made his debut at La Scala, substituting Michele Mariotti in a single performance of I due Foscari and Franz Welser-Möst in Le nozze di Figaro.
