The capacity for innovation has always united Edison and Teatro alla Scala. Just as we brought the electric light to this temple of opera in 1883, so we have been the first to offset its carbon emissions. Furthermore, the energy efficiency project started with the Teatro alla Scala Museum, is carried forward with new activities at the theatre workshops. Protecting the environment and saving energy must become a priority for each and every citizen. We believe that the opening night at La Scala is an important occasion on which to spread this message to an ever-growing audience.
