Sung in Italian with electronic libretto in Italian, English
Running Time: 3 hours 15 minutes
More than an opera, this is in a world of its own in opera history. The librettist Da Ponte put
Don Giovanni into verse by night ("I’ll pretend I am reading Dante’s
Inferno"). In this work Mozart touched on the most unsettling depths of his psychological theatre. The unstoppable energy of the Great Seducer continues to hold audiences through the ages in its thrall, regardless of the sexual mores and morals of each passing culture and generation.
Not by chance, here we see the return of the abstract and pulsating Don Giovanni of Peter Mussbach. Directed by Louis Langré, a true Mozartian.
