Sung in English with electronic libretto in Italian, English
Running Time: 2 hours 50 minutes
Inspired by Hogarth’s eight satirical paintings entitled The Rake’s Progress, Stravinsky’s opera is particularly topical in today’s times of crises and fraud. It tells of the decline and fall of Tom Rakewell, who deserts his true love for the delights of the big city in the company of a dubious character. The production, set in America in the 1950s, is by Robert Lepage, the great Canadian maestro of multimedia theatre.
