One of La Scala’s best-liked productions is returning to the spotlight. Cesare Lievi’s colourful staging, with sets and costumes by Maurizio Balò, was one of the first conceived for the Teatro degli Arcimboldi during the restoration works of the Piermarini building. Composed by Verdi at the age of 31, I due Foscari explores the theme of conflicts between father and son, between love and power.
