Between performances of Eugene Onegin, five short works by Mussorgsky (amongst which the wonderful A Night on the Bald Mountain) and Shostakovich’s Symphony No 10: the concert of the Bolshoi Chorus and Orchestra is entirely dedicated to the great Russian music. And if the opera chosen for the tour to La Scala pays homage to Tchaikovsky, a fourth name is present in the symphonic concert programme, because Mussorgsky’s pieces will be performed in Rimsky-Korsakov's orchestration.
