There are few major tenors today and one of these is Ramón Vargas. A native of South-America, a land that has produced many talents, he’s been on stage for 20 years with a wide but not undifferentiated repertoire.

For his recital at La Scala he starts with Brahms’s chamber music, continues with Lensky’s aria from Onegin by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov and Donizetti. The second part is entirely in Spanish with a series of canciones that will certainly prompt  requests of encore.
