An anticipated cinematographic project of the director Terry Gilliam and the indisposition of some members of the cast have compelled La Scala to postpone the production Andrea Chénier. Giordano’s opera will be replaced by Giuseppe Verdi’s La traviata.

The main role will be performed by Mariella Devia, who has never sung Violetta here. The tenor José Bros will be Alfredo; Renato Bruson will be Giorgio Germont. A young, promising director will be on the podium: Carlo Montanaro.

This will be the last revival at La Scala of Liliana Cavani’s production.
