For twelve performances, another immortal story returns to the Piermarini, Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet, in the sumptuous production by Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino, which has been absent from the repertoire since 2002.
Created in 1965 for Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev, the ballet develops the Shakespearian story of the two lovers from Verona with a profound attention to the human relations within, though never forgetting occasional moments of humour. The dynamics and emotions which are present in this narrative ballet are also evident in Prokofiev's splendid score.
