After Prokofiev’s Gambler and the complete series of piano sonatas by Beethoven, and before the summer break, Daniel Barenboim returns to the La Scala podium, this time as symphonic conductor.

Heir to the tradition of which Furtwängler is an acme and a symbol, Barenboim confronts a cornerstone of the German repertoire, Bruckner’s Eighth Symphony. He will do so with the musicians of the prestigious orchestra of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Staatskapelle Berlin, (one of the most ancient in Germany), which has unanimously elected him as their life conductor.
