G.I.S. Characteristics and Objectives

In order to take part in the numerous events at the Teatro alla Scala through the Cultural Promotion Department, it is first necessary to set up a G.I.S. ("La Scala Interest Groups").

G.I.S. can be formed by schools, public libraries, local culture councils, municipal groups or universities for senior citizens.

To create a G.I.S. the responsible authorities of the different institutions must appoint a Cultural Operator.

Cultural Operators in charge of G.I.S. must:

  • Find members to form a G.I.S.;
  • Plan and set up educational programmes inspired by the Teatro alla Scala and by the shows performed;
  • Organise meetings, guided tours, workshops and other initiatives aiming at the cultural education of the members as well as at their participation in performances;
  • Keep regular contact with the Cultural Promotion Department;
  • Present a report to the Cultural Promotion Department at the end of the season.

The application to participate in performances at the Teatro alla Scala through the Cultural Promotion Department must be presented together with a preparation programme that includes:

  • the calendar of the activities
  • the calendar of the expected meetings
  • the list of funds and bibliography used.

G.I.S. members who have taken part in all the preparation activities will be able to attend the performances.

Cultural Operators will have to supply the Cultural Promotion Department with a list of the names of the participants.

G.I.S. can buy tickets for the Teatro alla Scala performances with discounts up to 65% on the full ticket price.

All the requests will be valued by the Cultural Promotion Service, which will take into account a criterion of rotation that gives priority to the recently-founded G.I.S.
