Notes on the performancesOpen
From Bach to Pink Floyd: from the small artist’s room in which an immense drama takes place, far from the immobile view of the Paris rooftops, to the inundation of laser lighting and effects of a real rock-ballet. Roland Petit grasps the atmosphere of the times and doesn’t miss a shot: he asked Jean Cocteau for the libretto of the ballet that would become the existentialist masterpiece, Le Jeune homme et la Mort (1946); in the ’70s, after being blown away by the visionary force of Pink Floyd, who were then in full flow, he captured their music and visual suggestions. For the Premiere the legendary band took to the stage live in what was to instantly become a cult-ballet. After the extraordinary success in 2009 Pink Floyd Ballet returns to La Scala, with the energy of their legendary progressive rock transposed by Petit onto pointe shoes – though not only.
