Notes on the performancesOpen
Puccini’s Tosca is a tale of jealousy, passion and betrayal, set in an 1800s papal Rome threatened by the stirs of revolution; the story of a seat of power resisting the imminence of history.

Conducting the revival of Luc Bondy’s production, featured in La Scala’s 2010/2011 season, is Nicola Luisotti, music director of San Francisco Opera. The cast list marks the long-awaited return of Marcelo Álvarez and Aleksandrs Antonenko in the role of Cavaradossi and will feature the voices of Martina Serafin as Tosca and George Gagnidze as Scarpia.
