Notes on the performancesOpen
A drama of betrayal, a daughter’s love, and revenge: censored tale turned global favourite. Regarded as his greatest opera by the composer himself, Rigoletto transports us back to Verdi’s finest hour.

The first masterpiece in the composer’s “popular trilogy”, and one of the most frequently performed of the mid-nineteenth-century melodramas, Rigoletto marks the Verdian opera debut of conductor Gustavo Dudamel at La Scala.

Gilbert Deflo's production also sees return performances from Vittorio Grigolo (Il Duca di Mantova) after La bohème, with George Gagnidze and Zeljko Lucic - acclaimed for his Scarpia - in the title role.
