The world premiere of this La Scala commission presents prominent Italian composer Luca Francesconi’s musical adaptation of Heiner Müller’s dense play Quartett, inspired by Choderlos de Laclos’ epistolary novel Les Liaisons dangereuses.

Susanna Mälkki, music director of the Ensemble Intercontemporain, conducts this new opera, with staging by Alex Ollé from Spanish theatrical group Fura dels Baus.
