Due to an illness, M° Nello Santi has to withdraw from Aida's production. La Scala management thanks Daniel Oren for taking on the conduction of the Aida performances in May and June.

NOTES ON THE PERFORMANCE

 

In celebration of Franco Zeffirelli’s 95th birthday, La Scala presents his legendary production from 1963 with the masterly painted scenes by Lila de Nobili. On the podium Daniel Oren, much appreciated as Verdi conductor in the world’s greatest theatres such as the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Opera de Paris and the Vienna State Opera. As Aida, Krassimira Stoyanova sings her third Verdi role at La Scala after Amelia and Elisabeth of Valois, while the part of Radamès is interpreted by Fabio Sartori. And Violeta Urmana, protagonist of the 2006-2007 season opening production of Aida conducted by Riccardo Chailly, returns as Amneris.
