In celebration of Franco Zeffirelli’s 95th birthday, La Scala presents his legendary production from 1963 with the masterly painted scenes by Lila de Nobili. On the podium, Nello Santi, one of the greatest Verdi interpreters of today, drawing on the lessons of Toscanini and on his own longstanding experience in the world’s greatest theatres. As Aida, Krassimira Stoyanova sings her third Verdi role at La Scala after Amelia and Elisabeth of Valois, while the part of Radamès is interpreted in turn by Fabio Sartori and Marcelo Álvarez. And Violeta Urmana, protagonist of the 2006-2007 season opening production of Aida conducted by Riccardo Chailly, returns as Amneris.
