La traviata for the earthquake victims.
On February 26, the Management and the employees of Teatro alla Scala will offer a preview of Verdi’s masterpiece at half price to raise funds. The opera will be conducted by Nello Santi and will have as protagonists Ailyn Perez, Francesco Meli and Leo Nucci.
In order to express in a concrete way their support to the communities of the regions of Centre Italy affected by the earthquake, the employees and the management of Teatro alla Scala along with all the artists involved in the production have decided to schedule for Sunday, February 26, at 7 p.m. an extraordinary preview of ‘La traviata’, scheduled for six already sold out performances between February 28 and March 14. The Theatre Management is working to identify a reconstruction project dedicated to children to which these funds can be donated.
The tickets will be sold - at half price - on Saturday, February 11, from 9 a.m. at the Central Ticket Office (Galleria del Sagrato, Duomo Underground Station) and from 12 noon on our website.
The return of this production, staged for the first time in 1990 by the director Liliana Cavani, together with scenographer Dante Ferretti and costume designer Gabriella Pescucci, marks the debut in a Verdi opera of Nello Santi, the doyen of Italian opera conductors, with a prestigious cast: on February 26, Ailyn Perez will interpret the role of Violetta, Francesco Meli will be Alfredo and Leo Nucci will portray Giorgio Germont.
