  • These Regulations are also available on the Teatro alla Scala website (go to www.teatroallascala.org for the printable version). Should these Regulations be updated, the version published on the website – or, in any case, the one which is more favourable to customers – prevails.

Opening ticket sales

The ticket sales calendar is summarised for each production on this page.

On the first day of sale, tickets can be purchased through all authorised channels starting at 9am. The sale of the 140 balcony seats is subject to the procedure described here.

Purchases by sector:
- in the stalls up to a maximum of 6 seats (the first day of sale, up to a maximum of 4 seats);
- in boxes up to a maximum of 6 seats;
- in the balconies up to a maximum of 2 seats.

Tickets can be purchased:

From the Theatre Box Office: with electronic queue management and registration at the dedicated electronic stands. Once you have collected a queue number, it is possible to monitor your position in the queue in real time on this link; should you not be present when your number is called, you will lose your place in the queue and will have to collect a new number.
A 10% pre-sale fee applies.

Online: you can easily choose your seat and get a preview of its visibility on the online theatre plan. The ticket purchased (which arrives as an e-ticket in pdf format attached to the purchase confirmation email), when presented at the entrance either in printed form or on your smartphone, allows you to skip entirely the queue at the Box Office.
A 20% pre-sale fee applies (10% for ScalAperta performances).

Authorised ticket vendors: e-tickets purchased from authorised vendors (in pdf format, attached to the purchase confirmation e-mail) when presented at the entrance to the theatre either in printed form or on the smartphone allow holders to skip the queue at the Box Office (complete list available on this link)
A 20% pre-sale fee applies (10% for ScalAperta performances).

Payment methods

At the Box Office you can pay:

  1. in cash (Euros); however, for transactions the total amount of which is equal to or greater than €3,000, payment in cash is not possible, even if paid through multiple transactions for amounts below the maximum threshold as these could appear to be falsely fractioned (Law No. 208 of 28 December 2015)
  2. by bank draft;
  3. by credit or ATM card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners, JCB, Union Pay).

Online purchases can be paid for by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners, JCB, Union Pay) and through the PagoInConto service reserved for IntesaSanPaolo customers.
Authorised vendors are free to use payment methods of their own choice.

The security of online transactions is guaranteed by the VerySign certification of the sales server, based on an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protection system. Please remember that all purchases through Visa and MasterCard circuits require a 3D Secure security code; in order to continue with the payment, the free activation of the security code will be requested by the website of the credit card manager. It is advisable to enable the credit card before and not during the purchase, to avoid losing your priority in choosing your seat. The only document confirming payment and the allocation of seats is the order confirmation sent out by TicketOne. Sms or e-mails sent by the transaction authorisation system correspond to the website’s direct debit request, not to the actual charge of the due amount.

Ticket prices and advance sales

Ticket prices are listed on this page.
A pre-sale fee of 10% will apply to tickets purchased at the Theatre Box Office up until the day before the performance.
A pre-sale fee of 20% will apply to all tickets purchased through other sales channels (both online and from authorised vendors).

Registration of personal details and ticket naming

The registration of your name and surname, mailing and e-mail address, telephone number, date of birth is mandatory before you can proceed with your first purchase, however, this only needs to be done once.

For any purchases made through the Box Office, you will be required to show an identity document and to give your personal customer code, which can be obtained by registering:
- at the Theatre Box Office using the dedicated electronic stands, which will provide a receipt with your customer code;
- online at www.logscala.org (accessible also from mobile devices); you will then receive your customer code by e-mail.

Following registration, all tickets are registered in the name of the purchaser.

If a ticket is used by a person other than the buyer, the latter is required to issue a written proxy to the user, which must be performance at the entrance to the theatre together with the ticket and a copy of the buyer’s valid ID document. The proxy form is available from the Theatre Box Office (also at the time of purchase), or can be downloaded here.
If the buyer has purchased more than one ticket in his/her name, the presentation of a proxy is only necessary if the buyer will not be attending the performance.
The Theatre reserves the right to verify the buyer’s identity before granting entry into the theatre by requesting ticket holders to present an identity document and the relevant proxy (if necessary): this is done to check the truthfulness of the data printed on the ticket, the correspondence between the person carrying the ticket and its registered buyer, and also the regularity of the sales service, ensuring that the ticket purchase process is not compromised or that any other ticket regulations are not violated. If the aforementioned verification fails, the Teatro alla Scala Foundation and Ticketone S.p.A. reserves the right to cancel the tickets in question and to deny access to the ticket holder; the Theatre also reserves the right to forbid the sale of tickets for the current and upcoming seasons to customers implicated in irregular ticket purchases.

Ticket validity

Tickets cannot be cancelled, replaced or refunded.
Tickets are only valid for the date and time indicated thereon, it is therefore recommended that you check whether these details are correct at the time of purchase.
Tickets must be presented intact and in their original form; they are valid for a single entrance and cannot be reused after they have been validated at the first access check point into the Theatre.
In the case of non-use or of the customer’s failure to attend a performance, tickets cannot be shifted to another date.

In the case of loss or theft, the buyer must fill in and hand in a self-declaration of ticket loss or theft to the Theatre Box Office no later than 2 hours before the start of the performance, together with a copy of his/her identity document.
In the event of live filming, the Theatre reserves the right to make seat changes, allotting customers affected seats of equivalent or higher category (based on availability), or offering them similar seats for an alternative date. This does not however constitute grounds for a refund.
The Theatre Direction reserves the right to make changes to the cast for artistic purposes or reasons beyond its control, but this does not entail the right to a refund of the ticket price. The Theatre will communicate such changes in advance on its website and, when possible, by e-mail.

Cancellation of performances and refund methods

Refunds will be processed only in case of a date variation or the cancellation of a performance.
Should the date of a performance be changed or a performance be cancelled for any reason, ticket holders are entitled to a full refund of the ticket price, that is the amount indicated on the coupon, including any pre-sale fee, without prejudice to any of the consumer rights recognised by the law; refunds may be requested within 30 days of the changed / cancelled performance date, without prejudice to any other of the consumer rights recognised by the law.

Refund methods:

  1. for tickets purchased online, the amount will automatically be credited to the ticket holder’s account by the end of the month following the date of the performance;
  2. for tickets purchased at the Theatre Box Office, the amount will be credited by bank transfer following the handing-in of the original coupon and bank details (IBAN and, in case of residence or foreign current account, BIC / SWIFT) to the Box Office;
  3. for subscriptions, the refund of the unused portion of the season ticket will be effected by bank transfer.

INFORMATION

HOUSE RULES

All members of the audience must be in possession of a ticket (intact in its original printed format or in electronic form on a smartphone or device) or season-ticket card (intact in its original printed format), which must be kept available for inspection at all times and must be shown upon request to the Theatre staff. Members of the audience are required to occupy the seats allocated to them.
The doors of the theater open 45 minutes before the start of the performance.
Access to the auditorium is not permitted once the performance has started (with the exception of ticket holders with seats in boxes, who may enter their box even after the performance has started).
Latecomers will be asked to wait in the Foyer until the first break in the performance before taking their seats. The performance is screened live on screens in the Foyer (this service is offered free to viewers).

Children

Should a child disturb other members of the audience, the child and the accompanying adult will be kindly invited to watch the rest of the performance on the screens in the Foyer. In this regard, it is advisable to choose box or balcony seats for children to facilitate their exit from the theatre if necessary and avoid disturbing other viewers while doing so.
The Teatro alla Scala recommends that families with children take advantage of the Theatre’s Opera performances and Concerts staged specifically for them (see Grandi Spettacoli for Piccoli, page).
